Waypoint privacy policy
Waypoint is a map game made by Eureka Holdings LLC, a New Jersey company (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Waypoint website at waypoint-map-game.netlify.app and the Waypoint apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. It explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the game, how long we keep things, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can play without an account. If you join the leaderboard, we collect your email and a leaderboard name so your progress follows you between devices.
- We don’t sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- You can delete your account at any time: in the game, on the web, or by emailing us.
What we collect
When you play, with or without an account
- A random player ID. The game creates it the first time you play so your results can be saved. It isn’t your phone number, your device’s serial number or its advertising identifier.
- Game results: scores, which places you’ve learned, daily game results and the days you played.
- Basic app details: whether you play on the website or in the app, your chosen level, and which link brought you to the game (for example, a LinkedIn post).
- Why you play (student, teacher, shipping and logistics, travel, or fun), if you choose to tell us.
- Error reports: if something in the game breaks, a short technical message with your device and browser type and the app version. Error reports never include your name, email or player ID.
If you join the leaderboard
- Email address, so you can sign in with a one-time code and use the same account on your phone and computer. Other players never see it.
- Leaderboard name you choose. Other players see it on the leaderboard.
If you contact us or report something
- Feedback you send from the game.
- Name reports: if you report a leaderboard name, we keep the name you reported so we can review it.
- Emails you send to support@eureka-holdings.com or hello@eureka-holdings.com.
On your device
The game saves your progress on your device, in the app’s storage or your browser’s local storage, so it keeps working offline. It doesn’t use advertising cookies.
We don’t collect your location, contacts, photos or advertising identifiers.
How we use it
- To run the game: save your progress, sync it between your devices, and show the leaderboard.
- To keep the leaderboard fair and friendly: block offensive names, review reports, and spot cheating.
- To understand which parts of the game work, and fix what doesn’t.
- To answer feedback and emails you send.
We don’t sell or rent your information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers. We don’t use it to build a profile of you.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that help us run Waypoint, and only so they can do that work for us:
- Supabase stores game data and runs sign-in.
- Netlify hosts the Waypoint website.
- Google (Google Drive) stores our private backup copies of game data.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own data-protection terms. We only use providers that protect your data at least as well as this policy describes, and they may not use it for their own purposes.
If you download Waypoint from the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google handle that download under their own privacy policies. We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of players.
How long we keep it
- Account data (email, leaderboard name, scores, game history): until you delete your account. Deleting it removes this data right away.
- Guest game results: linked only to a random player ID, never to a name or email. We keep them while they count toward the game’s scores and statistics.
- Feedback: kept to improve the game. If you delete your account, it stays without your name or email attached.
- Name reports: kept while we need them to moderate the leaderboard.
- Error reports: kept only as long as they help us fix problems.
- Backups: we make a weekly backup copy of game data so we can recover from mistakes. Backups are stored in a private, access-restricted folder. Deleted data can remain in a backup for up to 120 days, until that backup is deleted.
Your choices and rights
- Play without an account. Every game works as a guest.
- Change your leaderboard name any time on the Leaderboard screen.
- Delete your account in the game, on the web, or by email. See Delete your Waypoint account. Deleting your account is also how you withdraw your consent to us keeping your account data.
- Get a copy of your data or correct it by emailing support@eureka-holdings.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, for example California, the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have more rights, such as objecting to how we use your data or asking us to limit it. Email us and we’ll help. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority. Using these rights never changes how the game treats you.
Players under 13
Waypoint is for all ages, and players under 13 can play without an account. In that mode we don’t collect an email, a leaderboard name or written feedback. Only game results linked to a random player ID are stored. If you believe a child under 13 has given us their email, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Data travels between the game and our servers encrypted over HTTPS. Access to the database and to backups is limited to the people who run Waypoint. Sign-in uses one-time email codes, so there’s no password to steal.
Where data is stored
Waypoint is run from the United States. Our providers may store data in the United States or other countries, under the protections described above.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. For important changes, we’ll also tell you in the game.
